Digital Story
The digital story below is about input devices and the various categories of input devices. A digital story is a computer- based tool which is used to tell a story. Digital stories focus on a specific topic and contain a particular point of view. Digital stories are a form of web 2.0 application which contains a mixture of computer-based images, text, recorded audio narration, video clips and/ or music. Digital stories can vary in length, but in educational situations digital stories usually last between two and ten minutes. Digital stories are beneficiary for classroom management because it is very useful in grabbing students attention and making them more interested in the lesson, especially a topic such as "input devices" which have numerous amount of devices that the teacher would have to explain to the students; the digital story would be best used to summarize or introduce a topic. The digital story could be used in an I.T lesson about input devices, since it include pictures of the various input devices and provides a narration or explanation about the topic being taught. A digital story may also benefit in ways such as;
- encourages collaborative learning- students problem solve and bounce ideas off each other
- allows students to learn and present in their individual learning style
- motivating to students because it relates to their personal experiences or interests
- enhances writing by requiring students to consider a wider audience, not just their teacher
- allows students to share work with a large audience that can reach outside the classroom
- provides a non threating way for students to read their writing aloud
- practical and meaningful way to learn new technology
- increases "digital literacy"
