-Web 2.0 Tools
Web 2.0 is simply the use of the Internet as a two-way medium- - -that it is a platform upon which content is not only consumed but also created. (Steve Hargadon, Moving Toward Web 2.0 in K-12 Education). In education web 2.0 technologies provide teachers with new ways to engage students in a meaningful way. "Children raised on new media technologies are less patient with filling out worksheets and listening to lectures because students already participate on a global level. The lack of participation in a traditional classroom stems more from the fact that students receive better feedback online. Traditional classrooms have students do assignments and when they are completed, they are just that, finished. However, Web 2.0 shows learners are constantly evolving entity. Whether it is participating in a class discussion, or participating in a forum discussion, the technologies available to students in a Web 2.0 classroom does increase the amount they participate.
One such web 2.0 tool is slidebomb. Click here to learn more about slidebomb

Slide bomb is a web 2.0 tool which offers an array of interesting features. Slide bomb is like a PowerPoint presentation but it is not your typical slideshow web-based and has much more features. This tool can be used in every day class lessons; with slide bomb you can add YouTube videos, Google maps, images, and links to images, text and more to your slide bombs. After you have created your slide bomb you can embed it and publish it across the web, so persons of interest may view your presentation.

Report on the Seminar

The seminar was an overall success. Members of the 3BC class presented on some of the various web 2.0 tools of their choice. Some of the tools that were presented on were; much enough, animoto, photo peache etc. While preparing for the seminar i came to the understanding that  Web 2.0 technologies/ tools allows users to interact and collaborate with each other, which is on of the major reasons why it is applicable in the educational system.
However i presented on Prezi, which is a web 2.0 tool. Prezi is a web-based presentation application and storytelling tool that uses a single canvas instead of traditional slides. Text, images, videos and other presentation objects are placed on the infinite canvas and grouped together in frames.
Prezi have the ability to zoom in and out on images or text helps students focus on what is important.
Teachers often uses prezi to analyze long sections of text with their classes.

Upon the completion of this seminar i gained experience on how important web 2.0 tools are as it relates to using these technologies to enhance teaching and learning. I even created my own Prezi. View it below.
